How we help

We look at the income you want in retirement and whether an insurance contract belongs in that picture. Any guarantee depends on the insurer and the contract.

A fact worth knowing

At 65, a man can expect about 18 more years, on average, and a woman about 21. Some retirements run much longer than the average.

Still alive at 90, among people who reach 65.

Social Security replaces part of a paycheck, not the whole thing. For a medium earner born in 1955 who claims at full retirement age, the benefit is about 42% of career-average earnings. We do not file Social Security claims.

Sources: Social Security Administration period life table, 2023, as used in the 2026 Trustees Report. Replacement rate: SSA Actuarial Note 2025.9, Table D, scaled medium earner. Any income guarantee from an annuity depends on the insurer and the contract.
